Prose, poetry & design tell the story of an artists struggle with mental illness.

I approached creating Float as a challenge. If I don’t feel safe creatively, I know I’m on the right path. I use several art styles in the book to differentiate between the two stories that converge with an illustrated anxiety attack.

David, a superficially more attractive stand-in for me, lives in a world that is stylized and bright until he suffers attacks and breakdowns. Then it converges into the world of The Glass Ceiling where I draw all of my afflictions and pain in a rough, jagged, yet beautiful style.

I have found art to be the most therapeutic tool I have to battle my anxiety disorder. And it’s an easier way to share what I go through with family and friends.
